Please all remember to post at least 2 new plays for today. Those of you with bets pending from yesterday, do not simply repost those! Anyone who has made this mistake will not be penalised as I can see it may be confusing. However, you are missing out on valuable money making opportunites! Day two is a treasure trove of winners

25pts Grosjean v Philippoussis - Flip will be too busy worrying about his tan and all the female fans
5pts Cornet v Nakamura - rising French teenager with a wildcard. The French junior ranks are usually pretty strong, and this Japanese girl isn't a world-beater.

Here are my bets for day 2:

Ok, since I missed day 1, I have 95 to play with. And since Im a gambler in every sense of the word, Im throwing it all down today! 45 units on... ZVONAREVA, Vera (RUS) 1.95 - I just dont think Hingis is ready to win matches so soon after her comeback. I'll take the slight underdog in this matchup...plus, everyone else seems to be on Hingis, so winning this could put me in good position in this contest 50 units on... PHILIPPOUSSIS, Mark (AUS) 3.10 - I know few tennis players, but Philippoussis is one of the few I know and like. I'll take his power and experience in this matchup! #1 Orlando Magic fan...on EARTH!

I'm taking 10 units on 2. PRATT, Nicole (AUS) 8.00 because the odds are pretty high and she's in her home country.
I'm also taking 30 units on HINGIS, Martina (SUI) 1.80 because she used to be great and hopefully can cling onto some of that talent

MURRAY, Andrew (GBR) 1.65 20 units I think with Henman gone, there should be a wealth of support for this talented young man. I can't see him losing in Rd 1.
MAYER, Florian (GER) 1.45 15 units He should blow Lee off the court with his serve. Mayer impressed me the last few times I watched him. Bit of a gut pick this one.

Azarenka 2.6 5 units The young Bulgarian talent (winning 3 qualifying rounds) will be a hard task for Mirza, who has to confirm the hints of good tennis showed throughout 2005. Small stakes for a surprise here. Levy 1.90 5 units 2-1 up on h2h and already warmed up by winning 3 qualifying matches, the Israeli gets my vote to defeat Kim, who has so far only one first round qualifying loss in Sydney.

Hingis is in a close match and she is a slight favourite. I would have liked to have bet on her because I have a soft spot for her after watching her win her first, and I believe only, comeback tournament a few years ago. But alas, I have to follow the letter of my rules, and the book percentages for the women's matches are higher than the men's. My selections are: NORMAN, Dick (BEL) to beat FLEISHMAN, Zack (USA) (10 units @ 1.81) KIM, Kevin (USA) to beat LEVY, Harel (ISR) (10 units @ 1.90)
My selection rule is: a) Select the two matches where the odds are most even and where the book percentage is closest to 100% b) For those two matches, select the favourite; if they have the same odds, select the player alphabetically. Thinking sucks.

my tips for day two are: Grosjean 15 units @ $1.42 to beat Philippoussis, The Scud,s been firing blamks for a while now and this will be his last wildcard for an Aussie Open. Chela 15 units @ $2.10 to beat Murray, another great white British hope to go the way of Henman and Rusedski. So far no losses, can't see any change today. Just a question, if and when will there be a ladder to indicate how everyone is going? It's on

OK, 26.5 units to play with… Philippoussis @ 3.10 def Grosjean - Hate the guy but he's got a shot. They've had some great matches in the past, but this is home soil and Poo seems to be at an all time low! He can’t get much worse, can he? To get knocked out first round will pretty much do it for his career... either way, it's win-win! ( 17.5units) Vik @ 9.00 def Hewitt - Lleyton is playing some pretty crap tennis at the moment and even has the excuses to boot. It's definitely possible for Robin to win such a match, but not the likeliest of outcomes. Either way, i'm happy to take a shot at this one. (2 units) Karlovic @ 3.10 def Davydenko - Nikolay is a great player, but guys such as Ivo, who posses big serves, are tough to get around once there on. It's 2-1, in favor of Davydenko, but the odds seem like there just worthy enough for a bite. (7 units)Yep, going with the same picks as yesterday. Slight change in units...

10 units on LEVY, Harel (ISR) 1.90 Both at decent odds and pick one I guess. Levy won their last meeting on a hard surface and I think is value?? 10 units on 2. LUCZAK, Peter (AUS) 1.65 Go the Aussie again. Good odds for a favorite and judging by the past he should get up at least this round. sig by pooc

Carlos Berlocq - Bjorn Phau pick: Bjorn Phau odd: 1.35 stakes: 20Units Phau can handle hardcourt well, and much better than Berlocq on this surface. Berlocq who has not played one ATP level match on hardcourt, and certainly lacks the experience. Kristof Vliegen - Christophe Rochus pick: Kristof Vliegen odd: 1.5 Stakes 15 units The most talented players is Vliegen by far. Can play better and serve better. Peter Luczak - Ivo Minar pick: Peter Luczak odd: 1.65 Stakes 25 Units local guy. He fought really hard in a 1st round encounter with Malisse in Adelaide. The week after that he got his revenge on Malisse, taking the match home 7 6 7 6 this time. After that he only went out to Andreev. Malisse said that he really has big respect for the way Luczak can keep getting balls back, and the way his serve works almost perfectly, hit with much topspin. So the result of this game is obvious. WTA Anna Chakveatdze - Jie Zheng pick: Ana Chakvetadze odd: 1.72 Stakes;5units Jie Zheng had to leave court during her match vs Vaidisova in the exhibition tournament in Hong Kong, and I don't think she'll be entirely fit to start this match. That's a pretty bad fact, knowing that as a player you're already facing an uphill task vs the Russian. Tamarine Tanasugarn - Jamea Jackson pick: Tamarine Tanasugarn odd: 1.95 Stake ; 5units Tamarine has been on form lately and jackson;s serve is not as good as her, so this game should be no problem for her.

1. ALMAGRO, Nicolas (ESP) 4.55 2. ANDREEV, Igor (RUS) 1.20 22 inits on Nicolas Almagro Spain to Beat 23 Seed Igor Andreev Russia as he's beaten him in a few games previously and that's Juicy odds at 4.55 1. MINAR, Ivo (CZE) 2.25 2. LUCZAK, Peter (AUS) 1.65 28 Units on Ivo Minar Checkoslavikia to Beat the Aussie Peter Luczak. It's a bit unpatriotic however he has beaten him before and is a Good Bet at 2.25 1. GROSJEAN, Sebastian (FRA) 1.37 2. PHILIPPOUSSIS, Mark (AUS) 3.10 32 Units on Aussie Mark Philippoussis to Beat 25th Seed Sebastian Grosjean France as He also has beaten him a few times and with his Big Serve anything is Possible. Good odds at 3.1 1. YUAN, Meng (CHN) 2.30 2. CZINK, Melinda (HUN) 1.60 45 Units on Czink as she is facing a Qualifier from China. Winning Horses Keep on Winning, Losing Horses Keep on Losing !!

1. 20 units on Sebastian Grosjean to beat the poo at 1.37. Unfortunately Im predicting another disappointing exit for Phillippoussis, I think hes just about finished.
2. 25 units on Martina Hingis to beat Zvonereva. I think Hingis will be quite impressive in the first couple of rounds before fatigue starts to play a part, also the crowd will be right behind her.

Given the fact I bet on two matches that haven't been played yet (I should really look at the match schedule) I'll have to go with:
5 units on 2. LUCZAK, Peter (AUS) 1.65 An aussie favorite at decent odds, if McAvaney say's his name enough times he will ejaculate. But the real reasoning behind this one is that this guy is due a win at the Aus Open, and should be able to get past the first round with the home crowd.
5 units on 2. PRATT, Nicole (AUS) 8.00, another aussie, may be past her best but is a very, very tough cookie, and never gives up a match. Again, home crowd support may be the key here today.

1. KARLOVIC, Ivo (CRO) 3.10 2. DAVYDENKO, Nikolay (RUS) 1.37 @ 20 unitsDavydenko will be far to strong for karlovic. Davydenko coming into this event as the 5th seed 1. HINGIS, Martina (SUI) 1.80 @ 30 units 2. ZVONAREVA, Vera (RUS) 1.95 No doubt has the ability and now has some match fitness behind her. Can certainly get this done 1 unit = $10 NBA 06/07 (at 30/10) - 0-0 (+0 units)

I got kinda confused since I thought the yesterday's thread said to post picks for Round one, not just Day one....so i have 2 pending -Murray and Gasquet.....so for today...
Vliegen to beat C.Rochus --> 10 units Vliegen has won their fast court match-up and has better game for the surface.
Clement to beat Mathieu --> 10 units not much between these 2 right now, clement is the bigger fighter and expect him to come through.
also...have Gasquet to beat Haas for 10 units from yesterday, but want to add 20 more so it is Gasquet to beat Haas -->30 units

SANGUINETTI - 5 units - the old veteran should frustrate the hell out of his younger opponent with his deft touches around the court. SAFINA - 3 units - im taking this one based on form and reputation. Later It's all good

i'll put all of my 65 points on Maria Sanchez Lorenzo to beat Sarafova @ 5.25 Sarafova is overatted and it is a much closer game than the odds suggest. Go for experience in these events cos the youngstrs just cant back up after a tough new year on the drink! Knowledge is power, ignorance is death

Woohoo Haas won! That means I still have units left hehe. 20 units on Hingis to win tonight. Why? Let's just say her "return" will be Jordanesque. 1. HINGIS, Martina (SUI) 1.80 @ 20 units2. ZVONAREVA, Vera (RUS) 1.95

1. FEDAK, Yuliana (UKR) 5.00 2. MYSKINA, Anastasia (RUS) 1.15
I think Myskina will win as she was one time grand slam champion. I put 20 units.
1. HINGIS, Martina (SUI) 1.80 2. ZVONAREVA, Vera (RUS) 1.95
I think Hingis will win although she just came back to the tour, she is experience enough to play against many players. I put 20 units.
