Very impressive at its first start. It was on a leaders track, but could not have done any more than it did.

Up against a few good ones, but I am looking forward to seeing it again.

It is giving Typhoon Tracy 1.5 kg's, but did not finish too far behind Gallica and dr Doutes in its races before a spell, albeit over further.

I just cannot forget how Typhoon Tracy won on debut, absolutely spanked Pachanga and others. I have no idea what price it will be, but I am looking forward to see if it was such a great run, or flattered by the bias.

I think it is very talented, and notice it is in the markets for the major sprints, and much get much shorter if it performs well tomorrow. Thumbs up

No doubt, was very impressive on debut. I'm trying to get some value out of the race and thats why i'll stay away from TT, will be around $2.00 - $2.50 in my opinion.

My girl is back soon. hump

Tuesday, 11 August 2009:

Unbeaten mare Typhoon Tracy will kick off her Cox Plate campaign with her first test at weight-for-age in the Group Two Liston Stakes after a rousing track gallop at Caulfield.

Trainer Peter Moody also nominated the four-year-old for Saturday's Group Three Cockram Stakes (1200m) for mares at Caulfield but was keen to give her the chance of making the Liston her sixth win.

"She worked strongly on the course proper at Caulfield this morning (Tuesday) and pulled up well," Moody told radio station Sport 927.

"She has probably matured a bit more than last campaign and I think the tempo of the 1400 metres will suit her better than 1200 metres first-up."

A three-time stakeswinner, Typhoon Tracy hasn't raced since overcoming a wide gate to win the Group One Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 21.

Glen Boss rode Typhoon Tracy in the Coolmore but stable jockey Luke Nolen will take the reins for the fourth time in the Liston.

Moody has nominated Typhoon Tracy for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups but said the Cox Plate was the race he was aiming at with the mare.

"Her preparation will be aligned towards that," Moody said.

"I am very confident she will run a strong mile (1600m) but whether she gets beyond that I am not sure."

TAB Sportsbet has her at $18 for the Cox Plate (2040m).

The Mick Price-trained Cox Plate hopes Gallica ($41) and Heart Of Dreams ($18) are also ready to resume in the Liston, a race Price has won in two of the last three years with Pompeii Ruler (2006) and Light Fantastic (2008).

A dual Group One winner of the Thousand Guineas and Australasian Oaks, Gallica hasn't raced since finishing eighth to Daffodil in the AJC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick in April.

Heart Of Dreams has won four of his eight starts and rounded out his autumn campaign with wins in the Group One Australian Guineas (1600m) and Group Two Phar Lap Stakes (1500m).

New Zealander Red Ruler has been in Melbourne for five weeks preparing for his first run in the Liston since cracking his hip when eighth in the Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on March 7.

Trainer John Sargent said Red Ruler was 85 per cent fit and that he was aiming him at the Caulfield Cup after he finished sixth in the race last year.

You do not know how forward some of these will be, but I will be on her and WBGY, most probably in doubles, trebles and quaddies.

If I get a decent price I will be on each way. Thumbs up

Any markets? Dunno

I don't think we'll be able to find any until the acceptances are up. I like her in the Liston, i think she'll be more forward then Whobe and HOD and i think she's probably suited to the 1400m more as well.

Moody said he wouldn't mind going to the Cox Plate, yet he is unsure about her getting the distance and he said she knows he will get a very strong mile. So i wouldn't be surprised if he targeted something like the Toorak and then maybe went to the Cox Plate from there. She's better performed then HOD and Whobe first up and over 1400m too.

Trainer Peter Moody says Typhoon Tracy is forward enough to extend her unbeaten record to six in Saturday's JJ Liston Stakes at Caulfield.

But the Caulfield trainer admitted he was surprised that the brilliant four-year-old mare was favourite for the Group Two weight-for-age 1400m feature.

"Bearing in mind she's taking on what I consider to be the top two four-year-old males (Whobegotyou and Heart Of Dreams), I was surprised and probably a bit staggered that she's come up favourite," Moody said.

"It's her first time out of fillies and mares grade and she's taking on a horse (Whobegotyou) who arguably should have won the Doncaster and a conqueror of his in Heart Of Dreams.

"They are two high-quality horses so if we can be competitive with them we'll be more than pleased.

"Bearing in mind she's only taken on the fillies and mares to date it's a massive class rise tomorrow and it will be a great learning curve for where we head with her for the rest of the spring."

A daughter of Red Ransom, Typhoon Tracy is having her first outing since her brilliant all-the-way victory over Culminate and Gallant Tess in the Group One Coolmore Classic (1500m) for fillies and mares at Rosehill on March 21.

Moody said Typhoon Tracy's ultimate spring goals, "whatever they may be", were still "eight or 10" weeks away, the same as eight Liston rivals who are also resuming.

"She's a pretty athletic type of mare, she's a big, lean mare so she always has that fit appearance about her and she's always been a perfectly-winded horse so she's forward enough to win if she's good enough," Moody said.

"But you want to leave some fuel in the tank."

Typhoon Tracy, Zarita and Gallica are out to become the first mares to win the Liston since Inaflury in 1999 while another mare Vonanne was successful in 1998.

Typhoon Tracy is the $2.35 favourite with TAB Sportsbet ahead of Whobegotyou ($4.80), Heart Of Dreams ($6), Orange County ($7.50), Predatory Pricer at $8 with Gallica best of the rest at $23.

Caulfield and Melbourne Cups prospect Red Lord is at $101 and, although he has drawn the outside barrier, 15, his trainer Anthony Cummings thinks he could figure in the finish.

"He goes well fresh, his work has been very good and I'm expecting him to run a nice race," Cummings said.

"It's a big call to say he can win, but I certainly expect him to be running third or fourth at least."
