One more play for the day - just getting this in before the game starts..
Dallas @ Vancouver - Total GoalsThe Dallas Starts take on Vancouver in about 15 minutes, trying to remain unbeaten as they take on the struggling Canucks. Dallas (1-0-2), one win and two shootout losses, have been playing excellent hockey to start the season. The Canucks at (1-3), have struggled in their first two games. They broke out of their slump against the Montreal Canadiens, beating them 7-1 in their last game.
The Stars, lead the legaue in not allowing teams to get the puck on goal. Dallas' defense is only allowing 24 shots per game. With Vancouver struggling in their first two contests against teams with good defenses, Vancouver will probably have problems scoring against Dallas goaltenders. Alex Auld, acquired by Dallas in the off season from Ottawa, is familiar with many of the Canuck players, because he played there from 2001-2006. That should give him an advantage tonight, because he'll know the opponents tendencies on offense. Auld who is Dallas #2 goalie may play if Marty Turco can't go.
If Turco goes, he's historically played well against Vancouver. He is 7-3-1 with Goals against average of 2.38 at Vancouver in his career. Strong early season performances from Dallas include Mike Roberio, Brian Sutherby and Brad Richards, has helped Dallas become one of the better teams in the NHL. The Canucks best player is goalie Roberto Luongo. Since 2006 he is 6-1-2 lifetime against Dallas with 1.85 GAA.
With the strength of both goalies, he game will definitely be low scoring, so I will be taking the Under 5.5 for 1 unit @ 1.87
