Soderling was just too damn good. He was awesome to watch, free swinging, deadly accuracy and a great temperament to hold his nerve when Federer applied pressure.
No Murray, Verdasco, Federer, Tsonga, Monfils, it's a bit of an oddball looking line-up that's left. It would take a brave man to pick against Soderling or Nadal from here....

I had a thread planned outlining the champion qualities of Federer and how he had made 24 grand slam semi finals in a row (not now though he has to be content with 23), the next best being a mere 10. I guess I have to can it now. Federer will back on the grass courts in a few weeks time, don't worry about that. But I suppose we just have to sit back and watch the two best clay courters fight this one out. IMO, Nadal will get redemption for last years loss to Soderling, by beating him in the final. Federer is a great player...no dispute...but...BUT...his opposition is not what players like Laver, Newcombe or McEnroe (the twerp) had...really, only Nadal is top class against him...Djokevich, Murray and Soderling wouldn't have made the last sixteen in L, N or M's time...so the Fed express's statistics are warped.... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Hot Pies and Mustard

Don't agree. Laver is probably the one whose legacy is diminished by the professional V Amateur laws at the time, but IMO, Federer has taken the game to another level, and these other guys have had to bring their level up just to compete with him. McEnroe and Newcombe were very good, but they never made it to 23 grand slam semi finals in a row like this guy has, or able to claim 16 grand slam singles titles. Where do rate Sampras in the scheme of things Jujuno? Banner by Pooc!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fuk6e5hEeYI
