ST GEORGE Illawarra have been installed short-priced favourites to end Wests Tigers' season in next Saturday night's preliminary final.

TAB Sportsbet have declared the Dragons will start $1.55 to topple the Tigers despite their courageous 26-24 win over the Raiders on Friday night.

Wests Tigers will start as $2.40 outsiders to beat the Dragons in the ANZ Stadium blockbuster.

However, the Tigers have been one of the best backed side's to win the premiership.

Tim Sheens' men firmed from $13 into $4.50 to win the grand final in the wake of their gutsy victory in Canberra.

Following a week off courtesy of their commanding qualifying final win over Manly last Sunday, the Dragons remain $2.25 favourites to claim the club's maiden premiership.

Ironically, the Tigers were rank outsiders when they last ended the Dragons' grand final dreams in their famous preliminary final win of 2005.

That day, they beat the Dragons 20-12 at the SFS.

The thing that should worry all Tigers fans is their defence, last week they led by 13 over the Roosters and lost, this week they led Canberra twice by 12 and only just won by 2 points, after Croker missed the equalizer in the last 3 minutes. For me this means that the Tigers go to sleep defensively when the momentum changes, this is where the Dragons should win the game.

The Tigers will be worrying about their own holes around the ruck, remember all year the Dragons have only let in 299 points in 25 games played (ave = 11.96) , the Tigers have let in 546 points in 26 games played ( ave = 26) . The Attack was very similar throughout the year , Dragons have scored 546 points in 25 games ( ave = 21.84) , the Tigers have scored 582 in 26 games ( ave = 22.38 ).

Dragons will win this

I think it will be to Chase. Alot of people tipping the Tigers but i just cant see how they win, they leak way too many points for my liking. Dragons will frustrate their attack with their tight defence. The Dragons attack is way to clinical for the Tigers to defend a score for 80 minutes.

Knock Knock!!

Tigers are a good value here, the ghosts of 2005 are still in the memory bank for many Dragon supporters. I fancy a bit of an upset and at juicy odds including a likely 10+ line got to fancy a bit of dosh for the men out west.

Sweet Diva! Might have a chance FINALLY to meet up and have a few cold ones.

As for Barney...Tigers a good value but i doubt they will but 10 up on the dragons. If they WERE to win it would no more then 4 points and the scores would be something like 8-4 or along those lines. Im predicting Dragons 24 Tigers 10

What a pain!..Wanted Titans/Tigers...

Have to barrack for Chooks on behalf of my dead brother..one of the most passionate East's supporters ever....he died early in the year when they won in 2003...and he will bring them home again...

might go back to Melbourne to avoid the after-crowing...
