Well we have had some terrific games in this world cup so far.

Group B with India, England, Saffa, Irish and Bangers have all provided thrillers from time to time. Group A comparatively was tame - with the marquee clash Lanka v Aussies washed out and minnows not doing much to trouble the top teams.

Top 4 from each groups? My prediction
Group A
1. Lanka
2. Australia
3. NZ
4. Pakis

Group B (very tight and will be a pickle if the Dutch beat the Bangers tonight LOL)
1. Sth Africa
2. India
3. West Indies
4. England

Bring on the Elimination Rounds at the World Cup 2011! Can't wait!! Banana
(Having said that there s slim chance that India might get ousted if they lose to the Windies and minnows beat SA and if England win their last game)

I don't think the World Cup has been this open in a long time...

ICC World Cup 2011 - Winner

It's really hard to pick the winner. My guess is that Sri Lanka will go very deep.

Depending on how they perform in their last games - I'll have to jump onto Indians or Pakis (sic) at tht price!

Something tells me Saffas aren't gonna win it.

Ok it all has been finalised now.
These 2 teams need to just show up for their Semis berth I think.
Saffers V Kiwis
Pakis V Windies

Unfortunately world's No1 and No 2 sides are clashing in quarters. Both have been playing rather poor quality cricket and only ONE will go through. India are a solid chance here.
India V Aussies

Enlgand have done it in the past are capable of doing it all again. Surprise us all! Smile
Lanka V England

Doubt tht mate. Poms are more likely to pull a rabbit outta their bums than Kiwis.

South Africa will be too hot to handle for the kiwis. These days they miss the leadership qualities of Fleming nd McMillan, Astle etc. which used to help them.

Windies 2 down already! For me it proves again tht Gayle; despite being one of the most exciting power hitters in world cricket is too hot and cold.
Lets see if my man Pollard plays a good innings tonight.
Pakis look in good touch here and also seem to have done their home-work.

You're right, those three wickets have ruined this as a contest, that is unless several Pakistani player get a nice wedge to ensure a close finish??
How do the semis pan out - who would Pakistan get if they are to win today?

If it were up to me - I'd prevent WIndies from playing any serious cricket until they sort out their contracts and player commitment issues. I mean its not a joke - world cup quarters. Sammy is no leader and Gayle needs to learn controlled aggression from ABD, Sehwag, Dilshan and the likes.

Anyway - POWER PACKED Contest tonight - India v Australia. I think it'll be a real close one. Aussies are known to peak to the occasion. And the pressure will definitely be on India playing at home.

Bring it on! Go the Men in Blue !! Banana Banana Banana

Not a bad start by you Aussies, these next 20 overs are vital, gotta post something in the region of 280+ to set a serious target for India.
Plenty of wickets in hand, Ponting playing alright for a change...

Punter doing ok 43no off 56 - if he mnakes a ton Aussies could get a big score!

I think we can now safely say that we witnessed the end of an era. The end of this era of domination of world cricket by Australia. From 1993 - 2011 this period lasted and I consider myself fortunate to have lived in this age. The age of great Australian cricketers. I guess everyone knows the names and sees the faces and actions in their mind's eyes on recalling them.

Now it's time for the Australian selectors to loose the burden of persisting to be the world's best. Instead it's time to get back to the basics and become the world's best again. Find new young talent and stick with it so as to develop that talent into world class players again.

Great call on the Saffers V Kiwis game there Nivek! Bow Down

I was enjoying a nice end of season trip to Marg River and made a similar call after I saw all my aussie frnds jumping on the Saffa bandwagon (after India beat Aussie a night earlier)! Laughing
