Trade week day 1 ... deals done ... Collingwood got Irishman Marty Clarke back in, Jamie Elliot (as pre-listed players) and fourth round draft selection (No. 67) from GWS Giants GWS Giants got ... First round draft selection (No. 14)from Richmond First round draft selection (No. 25) from Collingwood Richmond got Steven Morris (as a pre-listed player ? ) and first round draft selection (No. 15) from GWS Giants. Richmond could have got Morris as father son (which may have cost them pick 14 as Port were interested ... but somehow got him anyway and just swapped picks with GWS) ... good dealing by Tigers, I guess. (Sheeds and Steven's dad, Kevin played together!!!!!) ^^^^^^^**************************^^^^^^^ Kochie, KT, Ken, KO ... getting it right! #weareportadelaide

HIGHLY rated father-son draftee Tom Mitchell will go to the Sydney Swans for their first-round draft selection, and coach John Longmire is more than happy to pay the high price for the hard-working midfielder. Mitchell, the 18-year-old son of Barry - who played 170 games for the Swans during a 221-game career, was officially secured by the club in father-son bidding on Monday morning. Fremantle bid its first round selection of pick No.16 for the tough onballer, which meant the Swans had to spend their top pick of 21 to lock him in. No bids were received for the other two players nominated as father-son selections, Jed Bews (son of Andrew) by Geelong and Dylan Buckley (son on Jim) by Carlton. As a result, both players must be claimed with the last selection by their respective clubs at November's NAB AFL Draft. ^^^^^^^**************************^^^^^^^ Kochie, KT, Ken, KO ... getting it right! #weareportadelaide

Other news ... Carlton pair Setanta O'hAilpin and Paul Bower have asked to be traded as the club rules out poaching Saint Brendon Goddard. Interest from other clubs may scuttle plans for Richmond to snare Adelaide ruckman Ivan Maric. FREMANTLE and the Brisbane Lions are at a standoff over Mitch Clark. The 23-year-old big man, who has played 82 games with the Lions since being drafted with pick nine in the 2005 NAB AFL Draft, has requested a trade to his home state of Western Australia. Fremantle has been seen as the frontrunner to secure Clark's services, but the Lions were not satisfied with the offer of pick 16 in this year's draft in exchange for the tall. FREMANTLE has no interest in recruiting St Kilda pair Farren Ray and Brett Peake despite speculation the Saints will have to off-load players due to salary cap constraints. Port are rumoured to havce offerred pick #33 for Brad Ebert - WCE has said 'not enough" ... pick #28 might do it but Port may need give more and WCE aren't interested in any Port players ... could be headed to PSD where GWS and/or GC may get a pick ahead of Port! ^^^^^^^**************************^^^^^^^ Kochie, KT, Ken, KO ... getting it right! #weareportadelaide

Looks like the Hawks are working to secure Tom Gillies. This guy is going to be Scarlett's replacement at the Cats, if he goes it's a big blow to the Cats, and would be a superb partner for Gibbo.

I guess with the progress of Lonergan, Gillies is not as much a needed player in the best 22 at the moment but come 2013 when Scarlett has retired they'd need Gillies

More rumblings going on.
West Coast seem to be very close in signing off a deal for wayward Western Bulldog, Josh Hill.
Jack Gunston's deal to Hawthorn is almost completed. The Advertiser reported that the deal could also see GWS hold on to boom 17 year old recruit, Jaegar O'Meara.

Beat me to it re: Gunston JvalLes GC Suns in pole position for O'Meara. Ive got no doubt about that You got your man Smiddy. That Gunston deal is big. You would want to hope his worth there first 3 picks. Think he'll slot nicely into the Hawks forward line as a 3rd tall. Hopefully a mini flow on effect from the trade because its been boring as bat shit so far Hawthorn LOSE: First, second and third round picks to Adelaide Hawthorn GAIN: Gunston PLUS Adelaide's 4th and 5th round draft pick http://www.afl.com.au/ne...sid/124995/default.aspx
Not fussed on Josh Hill to West Coast so long as we arent forced to pay big for him. I'd much rather Bradley Hill in the national draft

No chance, Crows are retarded, they basically got 1 pick for Gunston. You will get Gillies I reckon as well and I will be loading a lot of cash on Hawks for the flag next year. Currently paying $6, but they normally drop a few in the first few rounds so will wait till that happens and get on them then.

Unless Gillies wants to go i dont think he'll be available. Cats would be stupid to let him go now with Scarlett only looking like he has one season left. IF it happens then yes Hawks are a big shot for the flag
Ladson to GWS i reckon will get done. GWS sound very keen on him
Interesting to see what Saints players are offered up. They need to leave some salary cap room. I'd be interested in Farren Ray if his available. Jason Gram maybe although his an older player. Not interested whatsoever in Brett Peake or Zac Dawson. I doubt they would trade him but if Jamie Cripps was available i'd be interested. Tom Lynch is a probably not. We're stocked enough with tall forwards
Maric deal is looking increasing likely to get done i'd say
Ben Hudson is definately looking into playing for the Lions in 2012. Perfect ruck partner for Leuenberger
Otherwise i have not heard of a great deal of likely moves

Brad Ebert has been offered to join Geelong after the Cats made a big play for him but has turned down their offer.
Farren Ray is rumoured to be going back to the Dogs, I'd like him at West Coast though.
Lynch is being connected to Crows.

Lynch is being connected to Crows. Cats didn't make an offer for Ebert. He wouldn't get a game at Geelong. ever. So O'Meara is a sun and the giants have picks 1 to 5

PSD could be loaded up this year! WCE and Bris want top 10 picks for Ebert and Clark respectively but the clubs looking to bring them in - Port (wont give up pick #6) and Freo dont have any and have no way to upgrade their picks ... this year GWS have pretty much all of the top 15 and they dont want any players just get more kids in the draft! AFL royally stuffed up bringing 2 new clubs in consecutive years which screws everyone else! ^^^^^^^**************************^^^^^^^ Kochie, KT, Ken, KO ... getting it right! #weareportadelaide

CATS DEFENDER WANTS TO BE A HAWK
11.55am: GEELONG key defender Tom Gillies has requested a trade to Hawthorn according to his manager, Tim Hazell.
Gillies, 21, has played just eight senior games and has a year to run on his contract.
After being awarded Geelong's best first-year player award following six promising games in 2009, Gillies has played just two matches in two seasons and is crying out for greater opportunities.
"It’s a tough one because he is contracted," Hazell said on the AFL website.
"I think another club might be the best thing for Tom, now that could be right it could be wrong.
"Tom’s in that predicament where if he could get to a certain club then he would certainly look at it, and there’s probably only one club that Tom’s interested in going to."
Hazell later elaborated that that club was the Hawks.
"Hawthorn’s pretty adamant that they are after Tom'’ he said.
Hazell said he hadn’t had much contact with Geelong in the last "24 hours".
"If a suitable deal comes across the table they’ll definitely look at it, otherwise they won’t entertain anything because they know what kind of character Tom is and they definitely don’t want to lose him."

GWS were supposed to trade in experienced players? They're just loading up on picks in this year's draft! TRADE: GWS exchange pre-listed players Terry Milera (Port Magpies) and Ahmed Saad (Northern Bullants), plus pick 25, for St Kilda's pick 20. TRADE: GWS exchange on-traded Rd 1 pick (20) to Fremantle for its 2011 end of Rd 1 compensation pick (which it got for Rhys Palmer). ... also Crows may be trading back pick 14 to get pre-listed SA's Luke Brown. That will give GWS 12 of top 20 picks (so far) in 2011 draft! ^^^^^^^**************************^^^^^^^ Kochie, KT, Ken, KO ... getting it right! #weareportadelaide
