Here's what Rose's doctor said:

Quote:
We're at this point very optimistic...We think of recovery as the long process that's in stages. But the short answer is the time frame we believe an athlete of this caliber generally requires is about eight to 12 months. Sometimes shorter, sometimes longer.

That would mean he misses a hefty chunk of next season.

Bulls showed they can win without him, but that's some pretty sucky news for the leagues youngest ever MVP.

Only thing I'm worried about is playoffs next season. Sickening how this year went down.

I just want a healthy team down the stretch. Playoff seeding will be irrelevant.

This could be good news as well.

Quote:
Joakim Noah will work with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the offseason.
Noah will work with Abdul-Jabbar to improve his attack at both ends of the floor, and it's nice to see him using his offseason in productive fashion. He's going to have to play an important role for the Bulls next season with the possibility that Derrick Rose (knee) and Luol Deng (wrist) won't be ready to begin the year. Noah averaged 10.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks this season.

All bets are one unit ($50) unless otherwise noted.

More concerning is how good Rose will be when he returns?

He's still very young so hopefully he can make close to a full recovery, but you'd have to think it would affect how hard he can attack the basket.
And he's one of the quickest guards in the NBA off the dribble and with great lateral movement with explosive leaping.
He'd probably have to adjust his style of play a little bit after this to lower the risk of reinjuring the knee as well, at least while he eases back into things.
He's got a decent mid range game and has improved his outside shot over the last year or so as well, so he will still have the tools to take over a game offensively even if he doesn't continue to dominate physically as much as he did before the injury.
