Paid superstar money when he's barely star caliber at times.

Quote:
Updating a previous report, the Nets and Hawks have agreed to a trade sending Joe Johnson to the Nets, and the deal is not contingent upon Deron Williams signing with Brooklyn.
Yahoo! Sports and CBSSports.com are both reporting that the deal will go through with or without D-Will, but Nets officials were meeting with Williams and told him about the trade as it was completed. The Nets will give up the expiring contracts of Jordan Williams, Johan Petro, Jordan Farmar and Anthony Morrow, a signed-and-traded DeShawn Stevenson, and a protected 2013 first-round pick. The Hawks were desperate to unload Johnson's contract (four years, about $90 million left) and the Nets did well to keep MarShon Brooks and Gerald Green, while still having their mid-level exception to use on coveted prospect Mirza Teletovic.

All bets are one unit ($50) unless otherwise noted.

Such a dumb trade

$20 million tied up in JJ
$10 million tied up in Wallace
Who knows how much tied up in Deron & they have to resign Brook

They're going to have roughly $50 million tied up in Deron,JJ and Wallace when all is said & done

Can also forget Dwight coming there now

Nobody ever thought Joe Johnson was ever leaving Atlanta, due to his crazy contract.
Really dumb move by the Nets. No hope of Dwight now. And a Deron/JJ backcourt isn't that great. Add Gerald and Brook, they're still 1st round knockouts at best?

JJ 90mil over 4 years, how did they move that contract?
he's already on the decline a bit too, and going to a team that already has a decent SG in Marshon Brooks..

As for Hawks, moving JJ and possibly Smoove, it will be a totally different team next season those guys were the main duo for the last few years, especially this year when Horford got injured.
It's looking like they are trying to blow the team up and start over.
Nets should make playoffs with their current group, maybe they somehow found out they had no chance at getting D12 and made this move on the rebound?

Nets have an offer of Marshawn Brooks, Brook Lopez and a ton of draft picks for Dwight on the table

Think moving JJ means they are going to keep and build around Josh smith & Horford. Smoove has been around for AGES but he's actually still pretty young. And they already turned down Pau for Smoove.

The Teague/Devin PG combo is a curious move though...is Devin's contract expiring soon?

As for Dwight, anyone have a clue which is the 'only team he'll re-sign with'? Thought it was the Nets but they went and traded for JJ. My bet is now on the Lakers. Dwight wants that Laker big man connection thing..Wilt-Kareem-Shaq...etc. Egomaniac

would be funny if D12's team he wants to play for is Miami.. they'd beat most teams 4 on 5 Very Happy

if the Nets do take that deal mentioned above and Deron re-signs, they'd have Deron/JJ/Gerald/D12. That'd be a pretty sick core group that should make some noise.

I didn't hear the Pau deal got nixed. With Horford coming back from surgery they will be pretty dreadful if he goes down again at some point.

I can't believe they managed to move JJ at that price!

To be fair, he's probably one of the better overpaid veterans going around... but still.... that's crazy!

Lakers would be insane not to take that deal.

Reports say it's not a simple swap of bynum for dwight. Magic want a bunch of future picks and also might ask Lakers to take on some contracts...
