starts thursday!!! The Open Championship Royal Lytham St. Anne, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, ENG Purse: $8,000,000 Defending champ: darren clarke. note: u.s champion webb simpson (still can't believe that one) is out, she's expecting within the next 2 weeks. both monty and Olazabal missed by one shot to qualify for the Open Championship. ok, there is one piece of advice i will give you folks and for those who are wondering why Mickelson is 35/1 (with paddy power anyway) his record at the Open championship is shocking, highest position he's has ever had was in 2004, 2nd place, when he was in that zone. other than that missed cuts or sunday and saturday morning playing for him. so money on him, don't bother. and yeah yeah give out to me all you want if he actually does some what decent, but i can't see him do any thing decent with this major. prime example, he came 2nd in the scottish open in 2007, following week at the british missed the cut. now by all means if you want to give him a try and put money on him, go ahead, but i'm only giving ye notice. so, down to business, tiger woods is favourite at 7/1, which is good odds i suppose. he's had a fairly decent season this year, and he is getting back into the zone of things. now definitely he has something to prove here, because he hasn't done so well in this tournament since he won 2006. rory, i'm having doubts about to be honest, is having a horror of a slump at the moment. honestly can't see him win this one. needs to boot the g/f out the door and concentrate on the golf again. luke donald- frustration. unbelievable talented and still has yet to win a major. doing well at the scottish open, 4 off the lead at the moment and looking good for next week anyway. lee westwood-another talented player, probably best player to never win a major. harrington-yes i'm serious, since the masters (leaving the 2 missed cuts aside, has been consistent with 2 tops and the other 3 tournaments 15th, 13th and 11th. he's coming alive again and giving some hope and striking the ball very well. his 7th place at the iris open this year is evidence of that. putting in a couple of names here, justin rose. Garcia *sigh* if he got out of his temper tantrum that's he's been in since 2007, than he could have a real good shot here. oh, my bets (i actually put genuine money on this time) g-mac, harrington and donald. anyone else want information, let me know. oh and defending champ darren clarke, 125/1 i know paddy power is not the usual betting outlet we use, but just showing what the others are like at the moment. btw where are the aussies at?? 100% irish and european and darn proud too the ryder cup is coming!!!!!

while clarke is a decent enough player and deserve the win last year, i think there may have been some divine intervention on one or two occasions at the Open last year. he's still a good player, just think he's trying to get back into the forum he was before. 100% irish and european and darn proud too the ryder cup is coming!!!!!

Andy Garcia has more chance of winning than Sergio....haha....(that should make him a special) am up in Qld seeing to a sick rellie, staying in motels/holiday flats...with access to Foxsports....so I get to see the whole shebang... just watching the preview...and agree with Gary Player...this is the best major to win....far more a test of skill and temperament than the others... wouldn't have a clue who'll win...just not you know who... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Hot Pies and Mustard

Amazed the scores are what they are on thru 2 rounds overall. Usually don't see these totals

Amazed the scores are what they are on thru 2 rounds overall. Usually don't see these totals despite the real rough, which is always on these links courses, one commentator said it was playing very like a lot of American courses...hence the low lead scores... Snedeker played unbelievable golf...would like to see him and Scotty fight out the last two days....without the Svengali-looking Pussycat bothering them (fake smiles and all)... Rory can't be expected to perform all the time...it was inevitable there would be a slump, especially considering his age....happens to all...even Mickelson and Tigger... I'm even less politically correct.. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Hot Pies and Mustard

A slump is one thing, what Rory has done over the last few months on the courses is showing just how silly the early crowning of him being the "next Tiger" was.
He's missed a ton of cuts on the PGA tour and was lucky to make this cut

Great round by g-mac today
So glad Tiger is not paired with Scott on Sunday. It'd be 12 hours of Tiger and his old caddie talk

WOW Scott doesn't choke...he just lacks the gumption to put the boot in...always has been that way...very lacklustre personality which carries thru to his golf... the body language said it all...Els came home fighting....and Adam just thought he could coast in on other people's mistakes...and relaxed too much... the Open deserves a fighting champion.... congratulations Ernie... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Hot Pies and Mustard

When you wake up Sunday morning with the lead Scott had and fall apart on the final four holes like he did, it's a choke. Nothing more nothing less.
Els made his run and Scott felt the pressure from it and fell apart=choke job

That was a horrible choke job, I felt sorry for the guy.
Did you guys see that muffed Tiger tee shot on the final day? That was horrible!
