How is it that synchronized f'n swimming is still an olympic sport and baseball and softball are not? I wouldn't mind synchronized swimming if they showed more underwater shots... but ummm... yeah... they don't.

yes and so is synchronised swimming, or synchronized as you fellas have renamed it. is baseball a sport, i dunno, suppose cricket is, so baseball is similar, i think it has to be a world wide sport, or maybe just european, not sure, americans were still chasin buffalos with bows and arras when the romans kicked of the games even 'your' very very best history re-writers cant knick that of them. .

even 'your' very very best history re-writers cant knick that of them. How is trampoline a sport. You jump up & down, do a flip, smile for the judges and get a gold medal. Faaar from a sport If synchronized swimming is a sport, then we need to get miming in next.

There's the makeup to win a medal for doing something 7 year olds do in their backyards:
Trampolining is a competitive Olympic sport in which gymnasts perform acrobatics while bouncing on a trampoline. These can include simple jumps in the pike, tuck or straddle position to more complex combinations of forward or backward somersaults and twists

I wonder if MMA will ever become an olympic event, it's definitely a sport, and is growing in popularity globally. prob the violence doesn't fit the theme of the olympics so much though. As for above, there are worse sports in the Winter Olympics.. whats with that event, Curling, where they have to sweep the ice? To me that one has always seemed pretty ridiculous, like lawn bowls + ice + sweeping? If that is a sport then why not include tenpin bowling in the olympics too

And equestrian shouldn't be a sport in the olympics either really. Seeing a horse prance and walk in a diagonal direction, jump a few hurdles. How is that any more of a sport than regular horse racing/hurdles?
Btw, BMX racing got added to the olympics this year too, what do u think about that one?

Problem is they cannot add anything until the 2020 Olympics. Everything is added that will be added for 2016, so it's a good 8 years before we could see it and who knows what it'll be by then As for curling, it's dumb! Just put a bunch of women out there in mini skirts and a broom and then people would watch

i was taking the piss about the 2 sports hammer mentioned ofcourse, in the sense of the sports being virtually just traditional american past-times. but its made me wonder to, just exactly what muppits choose, whats a sport and what isnt, i remember them considerin darts ffs,its the old nugget of what IS a sport, and what is just a game, synchronised swimming is neither game or sport. i can understand hurling being in, and other obscure events as the romans ruled europe and beyond for a 1000 yrs or more i think, i have no idea how they decide what is and isnt in the games, the criteria they use to decide. .

I read that Tug Of War used to be an Olympic event. How the hell is that not still a thing! Would love to watch that For those complaining about Trampoline, yeah its a bit out there, but its a form of gymnastics and still requires intense strength and athletic ability. If you get rid of that then there are a number of other gymnastic events that should go also Equestrian I agree is ridiculous and shouldn't be in Dressage?!! Im not saying it wouldnt take skill to train the horse to move like a fucking retard, but its not a fucking Sport by any stretch. Might as well throw chess in there as well while were at it As for baseball/softball, do enough countries even play those sports? It would be like trying to introduce cricket, not enough nations play the game at a high level

Tug of War would be awesome to watch at the olympic level Arm wrestling would be a sick olympic event as well, if I had to choose between watching one of those 2 and 10km marathon it'd be no question which one I'd like to see. Coincidentally, both of those events were part of Revenge of the Nerds part 1

Don't see MMA ever getting in. All 'fighting' sports are kinda toned down for the Olympics...boxing with headgear...am not sure about Taekwondo but I assume they pause the match every time someone scores a strike? How's that gonna work for MMA?

What do you guys think about swimming? I kinda think there's just too many damn events and the medals are inflated... There's all kinds of strokes and medleys and relays and a myriad of distances... It seems to be one of the softest sports at the Olympics. Men's 4x100 medley? Really? Needs to be discontinued... Modern Pentathlon - Athletes fence in the Copper Box; compete in a 200m freestyle race in the pool in the Aquatics Centre; ride a 350–400m show jumping course in Greenwich Park; and finish with a 3km run, which includes shooting points, also in Greenwich Park. Sailing - at least get some speed boats out there! 20km Race Walk - WTF? All bets are one unit ($50) unless otherwise noted.

Completely agree. There's just way to many events and as great as Phelps has been the last 2 Olympics, he's had more than enough events to gold in. I'll take what Bolt has done the last 8 years

And ppl shouldn't be forced to sit through 20km of the shit. If you're going to have it in the Olympics, make it a 100m race. Get it Over and done with.
