According to ESPN Radio,Allan Houston will announce his retirement today
NEW YORK -- New York Knicks guard Allan Houston will announce his retirement at a 4 p.m. news conference today.
Houston, 34, played in the NBA for 12 seasons, nine with the Knicks. He averaged 17.3 points over his career, 19.3 points in 63 playoff games. But he played in only 70 games over the past two seasons because of knee problems.
Houston was to earn $40 million over the final two years of his contract
All I can say is about time. One of the WORST contracts ever given out in contract history. One dimensional player that handcuffed the Knicks salary cap for to many years

Agreed. He could shoot the lights out, but there wasn't much else. I was thinking he was kind of young to be retiring, but I guess it's understandable with the injuries. That's a lot of money for him to be leaving on the table though..

There are several players in the NBA that I like to label as "fraud" players...although most of them play for the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics right now, Allan Houston ranks up their as one of the biggest frauds of all!
Yeah, he had a great jumper, and could knock down 20 a game easily...but, the rebounds were never there, the assists were never there...it seemed as if he was doing it for himself, rather than for the good of the team in a way...

Took the words right outta my mouth. Allan Houston was indeed a fraud. They paid him excessive amounts of money but he never played to what he was paid. Granted, I don't think anyone should be making that type of money playing a sport *yeah I'm jealous, so what?* but to make that much dough and not play up to that level is wrong. He was never a good player in my opinion. When did he have a year that warranted that type of contract? I don't understand it! Hell of a shooter, but not much else.

The only players who deserve that type of money, in my opinion, are the KG type of players (all-around type of players...pts, boards, assists...basically a triple double threat each and every game!)...
