What are your thoughts on the new look Mavericks team?
In: Darren Collison, OJ Mayo, Elton Brand, Chris Kaman Out: Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Brendan Haywood
The Mavs Depth Chart currently looks something like this:
PG: Darren Collison / Delonte West SG: OJ Mayo / Roddy Beaubois / Dahntay Jones SF: Shawn Marion / Vince Carter PF: Dirk Nowitzki / Brendan Wright C: Chris Kaman / Elton Brand
Quite a bit of depth with quality players all round. Their 2nd unit has a lot of scoring options.
I chucked some bets on Mavs today at 41.00 odds, which was way too high imo.. Planning to either let it ride and go for broke with a $11K payout, or lay the bet later in the season when the odds for Dallas come down to ~10-15 and triple the money. Either way I think they're heavily overpriced at the moment.

I think they have definitely improved in getting Kaman and Brand. Losing Jason Terry will really hurt them. Together with Dirk, they closed out games. Can't see OJ Mayo doing that. Don't think they have enough to come close to Miami, OKC and the Lakers (if they get Dwight) who are miles ahead of the rest of the league right now.

yep Jason Terry was probably their best clutch shooter, I don't think Mayo's quite as good but I think Dallas did well to pick him up and maybe he can fill in as a 2nd scorer behind Dirk the way Josh Howard used to.
Kidd was really frustrating to watch last season, he would go on some really cold shooting streaks and I think a lot of times he hurt the team when he was on the floor. I think Collison could actually be an improvement he's a lot quicker and I'm hoping he can work the drive and dish the way he did with Okafor when he was with the Hornets. Elton Brand and Kaman are nice targets for him inside, and it's good to have Dirk as an option for those 15-18 ft jumpers on the wings too.
I agree there's a clear top 3 right now, but I'd have the Mavericks as that distant 4th team with the next best shot.
Anyone know if their rookies for next season will make an impact? Jared Cunningham was taken late in the 1st round, they also got Jae Crowder, Bernard James and Darius Johnson. I don't follow the NCAA that much though so don't know what to expect from those 4.
