Personally I thought Murray played a very good tournament and was slightly unlucky to find Federer in such good form for the final. I think Murray definitely took a big step forwards. After his pasting in Melbourne 2 years ago I don't think anybody could say for sure that Murray had a slam in him, but now I think you can. He has grown up quite a lot in the last 2 or 3 years and he now has a much better understanding of exactly what is required. Another Federer masterclass might not be what he wanted, but he's still learning (and from the best of them). Murray's set for a good 3 or 4 years and if he stays close to Lendl he can win an Australian or a US on his favoured surface. Maybe soon.

Cautiously optimistic.

He is definitely closer to the top 3 than ever before IMO.

Lendl lost a few finals before landing a few himself, and Murray has time on his side still. He might get there one day.

Well he finally won a title at Wimbledon, just a few weeks late. This could be the spark that lets him finally start winning grand slams.
