Starting thread early as the times of games are bizzare ...

Hawks finished top but dont play Friday night which has been the case for nearly 10 years. They play a Saturday twilight game!

It appears to been done to give the interstate travelling team time to get home that night ... but it's definitely to Hawks disadvantage.

Friday Sept 21

Sydney v Collingwood @ SCG/ANZ 7.50pm

Saturday Sept 22

Hawthorn v Adelaide @ MCG 5.15pm
NZ

Why is it to the hawks disadvantage?

Sydney v West Coast or Collingwood @ SCG 7.50pm

Saturday Sept 22

Hawthorn v Adelaide or Fremantle @ MCG 5.15pm

Was an interesting decision to play Swans ahead of Hawks. I think it also had to do with ANZ Stadium not being available for a Saturday game.

Either way the AFL will be loving that weekend. 1 team from NSW, potentially 2 from Perth, potentially 1 from Adelaide, 1 definate from inside VIC and another a 50/50 chance. Only state not represented in a preliminary final could be Queensland

Collingwood players are to attend John McCarthy's funeral on Thursday then fly direct to Sydney afterwards. What effect would this have?

Collingwood have a 7 game winning streak over Sydney at ANZ.

Sydney vs. Collingwood - Match Odds

The Pies are dogs against a team they've beaten 11 times in a row... hmmm

Hawks are obviously hard favourites and I see them taking this by 10 goals. Even still both teams finished equal top, do u think $6 odds on the crows is too high, or are the odds more likely like that cos so much money has been placed on hawks. Their Sydney loss probably has a bit of impact too I guess.just seems too high..

Crows factor is 'easy draw' - perception is they are the 4th team of top 4 ... Tahlia out and Sam Shaw so only Rutten as their regular tall defender.

Crows have nothing to lose and are playing the underdog. If Walker and Tippet fire together it might just get into Hawks heads. Even Sanderson has said if Adel play their best and Hawks do same ... Hawks win!

I cant see Adelaide shutting down all the Hawk forward power!

I think Pies can continue the emotional, spirited footy and beat Sydney.

Went for the semi last weekend. Wasn't in Melbourne for long enough to really get the vibe during the week but the vibe at the game on Saturday night was something special. Cant beat finals at the MCG thats for sure. You should have a blast there Saintly

Crows easier lead up to September has beena major reason behind there downfall. As expected.

No Talia or Shaw leaves LUKE Thompson and maybe Otten if fit to go up against Franklin, Roughead / Hale and the ex Crow Gunston. Looking forward to the kick off between the key forwards Walker and Franklin. Not sure if either team has a defender that can go and perfectly match either forward.

Do the Hawks thrown Schoenmakers to the wolves again and hope not to get him on on one OR play the smaller Gibson on him. Personally i'd leave Schoenmakers well clear of Walker and send him to Tippett who's missing touch at the moment. Does Gilham play and maybe Murphy misses out?

If his fit i think Otten's the replacement for Shaw

Magpies and Swans should be a cracking game. I just think the Pies interrupted preparation plays against them. Ideally for them they would've had a large portion of this afternoon plus tomorrow in Sydney to prepare. I'm sure Buttifant will have them ready to fire but. One of the best in the sports science business.

Not sure where McGlynn's at if it's been confirmed as season over for him or not. Grundy is available for selection again and should get a gurnsey. History says the Pies will win and they'll get confidence from winning there without Swan plus Thomas for majority of the game only a few weeks back. Still think the Swans of the Sydney variety with a home advantage and extra week's break will do enough to win

Swans and Hawks to win and play off in the big dance

that was way too close for comfort smiddy ... Crows did well ... bad kicking will cost you against Sydney if you do that again?

Congrats to both the Swans and the Hawks on progressing. Damn good effort by the Crows to get that close. I wrote them off myself but they fought hard
