Here are the top 10 sites as determined by PokerListings.com.

I am not surprised to see Partypoker as #1, nor am I surprised to see UltimateBet as #2. What I am surprised to see is PokerStars at #7 with a EASE OF PLAY rating at 1. I find that site to be the easiest to play at, but the software/graphics do leave a little to be desired.

Its interesting to note that during peak hours, 37,000 players will be playing on PP. 2nd is PokerStars with 30k...the next closest...8000 at three lower ranking sites!!

Rank...Poker room...Overall Rating...Software/Graphics...Ease of Play
1.........Party Poker.........7.24.......................7.......................7
2.........Ultimate Bet........7.16.......................9.......................3
3.........PokerRoom.........7.08.......................6.......................6
4.........Inter Poker..........7.08.......................5......................9
5.........Pacific Poker........6.80.......................2.....................10
6.........Titan Poker..........6.52.......................5.......................8
7.........Poker Stars..........6.44.......................10.....................1
8..........HollywoodPoker.com...6.40................6.......................6
9.........Full Tilt Poker........6.36.......................7......................3
10........Royal Vegas Poker...6.36....................5......................8

RattMan i have been playing PokerStars for a while now and i too agree ease of play should be alot higher than a 10! a 1... well thats just rediculous.

Why do you think PP is number one? Is it the online site for the official WPT?

I might be off base here but I think this website generates income based on affiliate programs and thus rank Partypoker as #1 because their affiliate program is the best (i.e. more money per person referred).

As someone who has played extensively on most of these sites, that is the ONLY explanation I can come up with for ranking Partypoker #1 and Ultimatebet #2 and Pokerstars #7. Pokerstars is by far the best poker site online in my opinion. They have the widest selection of games, the best and most responsive customer service.

Partypoker has good game selection and weak players, but their software is terrible and their blind structure for SNGs/tourneys is awful.

Ultimatebet does have the best software, and good structure for their big tournaments, but that's about it. Their game selection sucks and their customer service is awful.

Good call Tim...I pretty much agree with everything you said. I started playing on UltimateBet...but lately, I have been playing on Pokerstars more and more. Im starting to feel that they are the best place to play for all the reasons you stated above.....

Oh, and it'll be nice to have someone with your knowledge of poker around to help out some of the new players on this forum!

Are there any FREE sites to play, just against AI competitors or something?

I had a look at PokerStars, and didnt realise I had to pay to play.

I'm not THAT much of a gambler, so would only prefer to play with AI, or as a download...

If you want to play for free...try the following...

pokerstars.net or partypoker.net

The .com versions are the pay sites.

Hope that helps!

Fun free games can be had at www.lastcallpoker.com

This was an Alternate Reality Game, based around poker. There is no software to download (it's all in Flash), and is only for play-chips, but the graphics and gameplay are good. Only has Texas Hold-em. Not sure about Tourneys....there was a weekly tourney for the top 7 during a week...stacks used to reset each week..but now the game is over it is just good fun.

Greetings,

Playing is great, and I agree, I started with PartyPoker like many did so it did not surprise me they are still number one. I looked around to see if there were any others which were better, and I agree, I like PokerStars too.. What I wondered is how many different software companies are being used by the top ten, are they all different, or just one or two which can vary the look and ease of play. Does anyone know the inside information on software used.

I know with casinos there are a few software companies that most use, then adjust the theme accordingly, but I could not locate the same for Texas Hold'em sites. Given the fact that the most popular sites are affiliate driven, I am testing All In Poker which is unique in industry to date as they pay out the most to those who refer or set up their own tournaments. Might as well get paid to play, so has anyone used it yet and have any comments on comparisons?

Good luck to all, Mike
