I thought i would start my Rugby League page on ma boys even know no one else has one except Bunj and his beloved Parra. I will just be writing into it on my thoughts on the team and my anger and any bets i like threw the year with St George and what not. Please feel free to drop a line or 2 down on what you think about the team, where they will finish or anything else. Thanks again Lionman on your thoughts on the Dragons Cheers mate. Righto. I know the season doesn't start for awhile but preseason is next month and the boys are already in for training so lets have a look at the 2009 Training camp. Train On Squad 2009 Matt Cooper Darius Boyd Mathew Head Luke Priddis Jeremy Smith Jamie Soward Neville Costigan Ben Hornby Brett Morris Chase Stanley Ben Creagh Dan Hunt Jason Nightingale Jarrod Saffy Ricky Thorby Nick Emmett Mickey Paea Wendell Sailor Michael Weyman Daniel Fepuleai Justin Poore Beau Scott Dean Young Jon Green Michael Lett Kane Linnett Alex Ranieri Beau Henry Trent Merrin Matt Prior Jake Marketo Few young faces and a few old ones aswell. I think the new recruits that stand out for me would be Priddis, Boyd and Costigan. Im over the moon to have those 3 boys with the club . It does suck that Gaz has left the club and browny was shown the door but Bennett is in town to tune up the boys and i really see BIG things happening for our club in this season and the next few. At the moment my starting line up would be: (Barring Injurys) 1. Fullback - Ben Hornby - Most likely the Fullback this year (we can never find one that can stick 2. Wing - Wendell Sailor - We all no what he can do haha (Would not be surprised if Bennett put him in Lock 3. Center - Chase Stanley - Young, Fast, Confidence sky rockets playing inside The Dell 4. Center - Matt Cooper - Quick as Lighting and is good under the highball 5. Wing - Darius Boyd - Ex Bronco and will be in Origin Uniform again 6. Five-Eighth - Jamie Soward - Not sure with these two..could play either roll 7. Half Back - Matty Head - Not sure with these two..could play either roll 8. Forward - Jason Nightingale - *Maybe* - Very hard to pick the forwards..not sure what Bennett is going to do here 9. Hooker - Luke Priddis - Ex Panther and should play hard, Due for a big year 10. Forward - Jeremy Smith *Maybe* - Very hard to pick the forwards..not sure what Bennett is going to do here 11. Second Row - Neville Costigan - Utility player..Can play anywhere maybe lock or hooker. 12. Second Row - Ben Creagh - Will be in Australian jersey next season. Great young player 13. Lock - Dean Young - Injury prone, Get him on the field fresh and he can turn a game around * Subject to change We'll there is my team for 2009..But it will change once we get closer to the season. What do you think? The Mighty Saints!

Relegation looks to be a certainty for this team. Chin up regardless Chaseit and remember its not the winnig its the taking part. At Anfield just watch the Villa go man, We will prove that Rafas a circus clown We'll have lots of fun with Mr scouser, And then the Villa kids will knock him down.

Serial underperformers Chase. Brown had to go as he was too close to the players and didn't produce results. Bennet will bring a lot more to the club, on and off the field and while I can see them going ok this year, 2010 and beyond is the real time this team will click and push for a premiership. The signings you mentioned are good, but you're forgetting big Michael Weyman from the Raiders. He will harden the pack up and provide a bit of grunt up front. How long until the club disposes of Doust? Surely now Bennet is there a change at the top is not too far away? They need it. BetBuddha Bet to Win

I would partly agree on most of the stuff your saying bro..We are under performers and i hope we do change that around this season. I really do see us going good this season..If we can just get off to a nice start with a few wins here and there and not always start the season 0-5 or 2-6 we might be a shot to take the top5. We will make the finals that's for sure but i hope we don't just get in there to make up numbers Im really looking forward to see what Bennett does with the forward pack The Mighty Saints!

Nathan Brown was the sole individual reason why the club had not moved forward. as a coach he made a great hooker. sorry Chaser, but that is the brutal truth of the matter. some brilliant players there in boyd, cooper, head, priddis, hornby, morris, young etc etc that wayne bennet will get the best out of. big things on the horizon for a team and a club that has a lot to look forward to over the next few years.

I like ur thinking slouchy..i am looking forward to the next few years watching this team develop. I was sick and tired of watching this team for years with trent barrett and shaun timmins constantly injured and our team making the finals only to get beaten in the 1st round..or better yet..get to the final and loose Its a young bunch and i think Bennett is a great fix for this club..i would love a premiership now but if it takes 3 or 4 more seasons ill be there with my red and white on that's for sure Cheers Slouchy The Mighty Saints!

Bennett will definitely be an asset to the club,he's a winner and a great coach...whereas brownie was a great bloke and a good coach but not tough enough hence the dragons wasted some golden opportunities. should go well, maybe 2010 could figure at the pointy end of the finals Winning isnt everything... ITS THE ONLY THING!!

Bennett's Dragons humble Roosters AAP
Wayne Bennett's tenure as St George Illawarra coach opened in stunning fashion as the Dragons crushed Sydney Roosters in their first match under the veteran coach.
After 21 years in Brisbane, Bennett's impact looked immediate in a 54-6 belting of the tri-colours at Members Equity Stadium in Perth.
Much-maligned for beating themselves with errors and wasted opportunities, the new-look Dragons instead made Brad Fittler's side pay for a number of gaffes, including knock-ons to start the first two quarters.
The joint venture side led 30-6 at half-time in steamy conditions before an enthusiastic 9,832 crowd, with centre Chase Stanley, back-rower Beau Scott, fullback Brett Morris and winger Michael Lett each scoring a brace of tries.
The writing was on the wall for the Bondi Junction side when prop Frank-Baul-Nuuausala knocked-on from the kick-off and after a quick scrum win, Dragons centre Matt Cooper put winger Michael Webb over in the left corner.
Then Sydney's restart went out on the full and New Zealand international Stanley scored.
The second period saw further tries to Stanley (22) captain Dean Young (34) and Scott (37).
And while new recruit Darius Boyd was denied a try off Wendell Sailor's grubber in the 57th-minute, the Broncos import managed to cross the stripe with 12 minutes to go anyway, after a long break from Ben Creagh.
Lett crossed again in the final minutes to add some extra gloss to the Dragons' scoreline. Posted: Sat, 14 Feb 2009 23:28:17 On ya boys The Mighty Saints!

St George Illawarra new recruit Neville Costigan will this week wear the “Red V” for the first time when the Dragons take on the Bulldogs in the Mercury Challenge at WIN Stadium this Saturday night.
Costigan, 23, was unable to play in last week’s 54-6 victory over the Roosters in Perth due to a suspension he received during the 2008 World Cup.
“It’s exciting to be able to get out there and spend some time on the field,” Costigan said. “It has been a long and hard pre-season so to be able to get some match practice will be beneficial.”
“It was great to be part of the World Cup and now that I’m at a new Club I feel I’m ready for a good year here at the Dragons,” he added.
The Dragons and Bulldogs will be supporting the Victorian Bushfire appeal at this weekend’s game.
St George Illawarra Dragons Team v Bulldogs Saturday, February 21 WIN Stadium, Wollongong
1. Brett Morris 2. Michael Lett 3. Chase Stanley 4. Matt Cooper 5. Wendell Sailor 6. Jamie Soward 7. Mathew Head 8. Justin Poore 9. Dean Young 10. Michael Weyman 11. Beau Scott 12. Jarrod Saffy 13. Matt Prior
14. Dan Hunt 15. Jon Green 16. Luke Priddis 17 Ricky Thorby 18. Ben Creagh 19. Jason Nightingale 20. Darius Boyd 21. Neville Costigan 22. Jeremy Smith
Will be a top game at WIN tomorrow! Carn the saints...I really see this game being a close one guys but i think the Saints will grind out a win and win this one by 8. Saints always put there full strength side out for trial matches and i think they will get the job done..Dogs do look good this year mind you. GL to both teams. The Mighty Saints!

the den was quiet indeed! thought you must have had a cave in i reckon vying for a top 4 spot, the comp looks fairly even so far? manly will struggle a bit and the storm are 3/3 and the broncs are going alright..but the dragons and maybe the dogs too should be in the thick of it i reckon. Not seeing a dominant force so far after 6 rounds which is a good thing imo Winning isnt everything... ITS THE ONLY THING!!

Yes i agree. I would be excited to get a top 4 spot but it is just the beginning and i think our team is looking good. I really don't see us winning it all t his year but in future....god i cant wait!!haha..people are saying this could be our year but i really have no idea. Because evrey year they talk the dragon boys up and get gunned down in the playoffs so i don't want to open my mouth but ill steal a quote from Justin Langer from when they won the test match down in Tassy against the Pakis years ago when they were trailing by like 400 runs or something lol "You just never know" -we'll...they won The Mighty Saints!

but warriors are like a brick wall 12-11..Bloody close as i said in the other thread but we still got the win and the 2 points that comes with that and are still up there on top. Huge credit to the boys again showing class but i think that game was always going to be tough for the boys The Mighty Saints!

Pretty much talking to myself on here but ill just put down my thoughts if anyone is reading. I think that this weekends game is going to be a good one. We play a some what out of form Cowboys team which i think on there day can upset but i think the Dragons will be too strong. Soward will have to come out firing if he wants a Origin birth and really show the selectors he is serious. Also i think a Kangaroos Jersey wouldn't be to far away boys?? The Mighty Saints!

well im reading humorous the test jumper comment for Soward.might be a rung below wallace at this stage tho mate? hows pearce going he would be about 2nd in line i would have thought...then JS i agree the cowboys arent top 4 material i dont think but where is that game being played? they are dangerous and if playing at home add on a bit to their ability. Winning isnt everything... ITS THE ONLY THING!!

Yeah We are going up north and playing at Dairy Farmers. Going to be a tough one but i see the Dragons prevailing here by a bit of a margin. Cowboys in there opening game of the season looked fantastic but since then have sorted of hovered around and gone back to last seasons form The Mighty Saints!

Yeah sorry Chase, but whilst Soward is playing his best footy, i dont think he is orgin material just yet. Not that i think the current halves are miles in front of him, Wallace got the origin position at the right time, i personally would have stuck with Pearce as he is young and could only get better with experience, or you could go the other way - Kimmorley, in his best career form, im sure he wouldnt make the same mistakes as in past origin performances, he just loves playing footy.
I said last week that i dont rate the Cowboys and they proved me right last week, going down to parramatta, i couldnt believe that! ill be sticking with the dragons if cooper and the likes are playing. ill go out on a limb and say the top 4 will be Brisbane, Dragons, Dogs, Storm

Yeah i don't see him getting a Roos jersey but i think he might get a blues jumper maybe. When you look at the 2 sides for this Saturdays game against the cowboys it looks one sided but maybe cause im just a saints boy so not sure about you boys but i think you have made yourself clear Diva The Mighty Saints!
