This card could be a very good one. Lots of good fights on the card, Rampage v Bader, Hunt v Kongo, Okami v Boetsch, Hioki v Palaszewski, Pettis v Lauzon and the main event, Edgar v Henderson. Gomi is fighting once again, but he's on the downside of his career. He has lost 5 of his last 8, and is nowhere near the fighter he was in the past. Had he come to the UFC earlier, things might have been different. Kid Yamamoto is also on the card, and he too has lost a step. Should not have tried out for the Japanese wrestling team, he had lost prime years of his MMA career. This card is being fought in Japan and I'll preview the fights currently being offered by WBX. I'll follow up once more fights are offered.

Jackson vs. Bader - Match Odds

Ryan Bader's only two losses have come from a thrashing by current light heavyweight champ, Jon Jones, and an embarassing loss to Tito Ortiz. He was a very promising up and coming fighter in the division, but his ascent to the top was derailed by Jones and further damaged by Ortiz who was a cupcake fight for him. He dispatched Jason Brilz in his last fight handily via KO and is looking to get a shot at the title with a couple more solid wins. Standing in his way is the older, but still very dangerous Rampage Jackson. The vet's last loss was also to Jon Jones where he was also thoroughly beaten by the champ. Both fighters have a similar style of fighting as they are both wrestlers with dynamite in their hands. Rampage has the edge in his hands as he's definitely the more versatile striker, while Bader has the edge in wrestling and conditioning, and I believe is the stronger of the two. I see a ton of value in backing Bader in this fight. It's basically a coin toss and if he can take Rampage down consistently (which he is more than capable of doing), he could grind out a couple of rounds before a tired Rampage gets grounded and pounded to a TKO loss. I take Bader in the 3rd round via ref stoppage due to GNP, LOTS of value there.

Edgar vs. Henderson - Match Odds

I have to admit, I'm a Frankie Edgar hater. I don't care who does it, but someone needs to beat the shit out of that dude. I also HATE to admit that he is a good fighter, quick as a damn mongoose, pretty damn strong and elusive. If you take him down, he'll get right back up. He can take a punch and come back strong (ask Gray Maynard... twice that fucker screwed himself). He can outbox one of the best boxers in MMA (ask BJ Penn, got jabbed to death two straight times). He has beaten a number of good fighters, BJ Penn twice, previously unbeaten Gray Maynard twice, Hermes Franca, Sean Sherk, Spencer Fischer, Tyson Griffin and Jim Miller. Definitely not a shabby record, and I totally underestimated this kid. But I am pulling for him to lose to one of my favorite fighters for some time now, Ben Henderson. I watched Henderson tear through the WEC for two years, rolling through opponents, submitting and knocking others out at will. He hasn't finished anyone yet in the UFC, but could Edgar be the first? Henderson's hands are far superior as well as his ground/submission game, however he's going up against the champ who has beaten all odds to not only win the title, but has defended it three times. The one thing I can see happening is Bendo catching Edgar early, like Maynard did, and finishing the fight. Henderson can finish fights. If his opponent is on the ropes and wobbly, he'll end it. He has great conditioning and I think could just plain outwork Edgar in the end. I think this fight is more of a coinflip than anything and will side with Ben Henderson.

I'm with you Hammer. I don't have the spare cash to go huge on anything at the moment but if I did I would be hitting that Bader line very hard! There is no way that he should be a $3.00+ dog in this one. The matchup most definitely suits the younger fighter here. Rampage wants to stand and bang, Bader will oblige but the thing is, he's quicker than Rampage and is a more technical striker. He can also take Rampage to the ground, though I really don't see this happening. I'm not a Bader fan by any stretch of the imagination but I think this is a bad matchup for Rampage and I would have the odds at $1.90 Bader $2.25 Rampage.

The Edgar Bendo fight is a complete coin-flip. Every logical information tells me that Bendo will crush him. He'll ragdoll him in my head... But this Edgar bastard keeps winning for some reason, some reason that my brain fails to recognise. So I just don't get it and won't make a prediction on this one haha.

Any other interesting odds out?

Rampage had a lousy training camp and came in at 211 lbs - a shocking effort really. Bader made weight and will be getting an extra 20% of the purse.

What an awesome UFC!

I hope some of you got on the Bader tip. Rampage looked like rubbish and hopefully that's the end of him.

Bendo a deserving champion but many challenges await! Easily the most stacked division in the UFC. Time for Edgar to stop dicking around and go down to FW where he belongs.

Wow... I just read some articles and there's controversy about who won the Bendo-Edgar fight. This is really weird to me, I had it a unanimous decision for Bendo. He did far more damage, broke Edgar's nose, closed his eye, kicked the crap out of his leg. He landed heavy leg-kicks throughout (it means nothing that Edgar grabbed them afterwards). He also had the most submission attempts. Edgar probably landed more strikes overall but they were either at the end of his range or had little on them. He also had more takedowns but few were 'takedowns' in the traditional sense, they were more like scrambles that he got the better of momentarily.

Good thing you weren't judging...

Bendo 100-81 strikes
Bendo 87-68 significant strikes

It wasn't even close... see link above.
