Read here: http://www.mmamania.com/...-aldo-featherweight-mma
Uncle Dana and pretty much anyone with an opinion has been saying that Edgar should fight at featherweight since he doesn't cut any weight to make 155. I find this utterly bizarre given that he's successfully defended his title three times and only lost twice in his career. I think his speed at 155 was what made him so dangerous and gave him an advantage over bigger guys. One loss = change weight class? wtf? Anyhow, if he takes it, I'm pretty sure it's going to end badly for him. Aldo is a big FW and he struggles like hell to make weight. If anything, he should be moving up. Frankie is going to end up fighting a guy who is not only bigger than him but is also just as fast.

You said it perfectly, his speed was his advantage at 155, and will no longer be a strength at 145. Aldo is faster than Edgar and has better technique and heaps more power. What I do think is that Dana White is smart doing this as he won't have to give Edgar a rematch with Ben Henderson, a fight NO ONE wants to see. Frankie Edgar is a bore really, that could be why Dana doesn't want him getting a second chance at Ben Henderson. If he wins, that LW title is back around Frankie's waist, and any ME with him in it loses the company money. I say Edgar takes it, gets his ass whupped, and retires. But that's just me being a dick.

It's a pretty dirty move by Dana though, you gotta admit. He is just imposing himself on Edgar here. It's probably the 'right' thing to do but it seems weird to me. UFC is one of the only sports where you can go from hero to zero so rapidly.
