Hi all, Some great internationals this weekend and some good bets - after Soperman has informed me of my succesful bets I though we can all put down our predictions here - see who gets the best tips. My luck will run out but hey I will give it a go Argentina v New Zealand Currently New Zealand to win are 1.3, and I would not disgree though they have virtually changed their whole team that they had against Ireland. Brought back some quality players in Dan Carter, and Jerry Collins. Top tip: New Zealand to win under 12.5 points 2 Australia v Ireland Again both teams have looked impressive against England and New Zealand. Think Ireland will be a hard opposition for Australia (much harder than England). They have some good talented players like O'Driscoll. Australia welcome back Gregan, but have injuries to key areas with freier, and Blake the main casualities. I think they also have an inexperienced team and this might be expoited by the irish. Tip : Australia to win under 12.5 - 2 points South Africa v France This will be definate South Africa match, cannot see beyond this. Tip: South Africa to win over 12.5 - 1.7points Enjoy Welshy

After extensive research, I will go for the Kiwis, Ozzys and Frogs to all pick up wins. Don't hate, appreciate...

Looking forward to the weekend also. Australia -v- IrelandI will be over in Dublin for the weekend and hope to have downa couple of pints of liffe water (also known as Guinness) and support the Irish against the Aussies. I think that the Irish have a great chance to pull of the upset. I call it an upset as the Irish have only won 3 times when playing down under and the last time was in 1979. The last seven meeting have gone Australia way, but only just Nov 2003 Australia 17 - Ireland 16 I think that the handicap Ireland +11.5 @ 2.0 is a great price. S.Africa -v- FranceIn all honesty I have not seen to much of either team this season. Not sure if the prices are all that good. If the Super14 was anything to go by I would have to check thier line up and see how many Bulls players there are. i think that the SA odds @ 1.51 are a little short for me. Home games SA have won only 9 / 19 with 5 draws and 5 losses. SA win 2005 Most recent Draw 2005 France win 2001 Argentina -v- All BlacksI can not see past a NZ win here are the Los Pumas have never beaten the Kiwis but have drawn a game back in 1985. Althought Argentina have taken the scalps of Wales, Italy & Scotland in the last year I think that the kiwi are currently just a step to far. No decent prices that I have found straight bet or handicaps. There are 10 kinds of people in the world: Those who understand binary and those who don't... do not often bet in this market, but i do see some value in backing ireland. I think it is a much closer game than the odds suggest. I think +11.5 according to skyhi is certainly a good bet. but personally i think it is even closer than that...

agree with everyone that ireland should push the aussies very close and the handicap of 11.5 definitely looks beatable. think they deserve some success after being unlucky against the all blacks.
can't find any handicaps for nz vs argentina, sometimes they only go up the day before so will check again tomorrow. i'm guessing they'll give the argies about a 7 point start and i'm fairly tempted to take them with that as last time we played them over there we needed a last minute length of the field try to either draw or win by a couple (can't remember which). with an entirely new team playing i think the all blacks will really struggle to find there rhythm.
france are notoriously poor travellers (unless it's against nz!) and they'll struggle to match the power of the saffers at home, even if they have lost their talisman schalk burger. if the frogs drop there heads after a couple of trys (which they're prone to doing) it could be a thrashing.
good luck everyone.

"soperman"can't find any handicaps for nz vs argentina, sometimes they only go up the day before so will check again tomorrow. Check out www.betfair.com -- here's what they've got posted: (no spreads yet) Argentina 4.6 New Zealand 1.29 Draw 40.00 Based on these odds, I would think NZ would have a higher handicap than 7... maybe 9 or 10....

Interesting set of Rugby Picks welshy but not commenting on the first two matches as I think they will be too close to call.
I am very interested in the South African match against France which looks to be a very close game. Although having said that I think the South Africans will too good though. I am looking forward to seeing Wynand playing @ 13 and he should have been doing this way before now, so I am glad he has a chance and will be making his second cap. I am going with Welshy on his pick

Yeah I agree on the game being very close, but if South Africa win it will be the 14th consecutive test they have won on home soil - some feet. South Africa's record against France in SA is: At home Played 19 Won 9 Lost 5 Drawn - 5 Average Score - 19-14 Hope this gives you an idea of betting wellington Welshy

just checked out points start on all matches on tab.co.nz
you can buy the argies with 7.5 headstart at 2.05 or with 9.5 headstart at 1.92
the french are being given the same margins for roughly same prices
the irish are 2.00 with 10.5 headstart and 1.87 at 12.5.
am guessing these will be roughly same odds across most bookies.
too my mind the argies with a 9.5 start, french with 9.5 headstart and irish with 12.5 headstart would be the go.
good luck to youse and yours.

Cheers Soperman, this seems a cool rugby forum with som many knowlegeable people on here. I am going to go for Argies with 9.5 headstart, and the south africans too. The Irish v Aussies are just to hard to bet on.

no worries mr wiz, can't win all the time otherwise you'd be a bookie! saw highlights of the match, the irish looked very tired and the aussies took advantage. nz doing well with mixture of inexperience and old campaigners to hold off the argentinians, but the pumas beat the spread for us anyway. the most interesting result for the tri-nations was the boks getting beaten by the french. tres surprise. maybe the boks will be a little easier to beat without the one man wrecking machine of schalk burger. my early predictions for the tri-nations is the all blacks 1st, possibly losing one game, aussies 2nd and saffers 3rd. but i would say that as a kiwi wouldn't i?!

Well here's a weak response from Ireland. Really hate it when a team gets beaten and then their players/coach come out and go overboard in talking up their victor. It goes beyond just saying, "Great game, you guys were better on the day". Australia better than All Blacks, say Irish duo Sun Jun 25, 2006 7:43 AM BST
(Reuters) - Australia are good enough to beat New Zealand in this year's Tri-Nations, according to Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan and captain Brian O'Driscoll.
The Wallabies defeated Ireland 37-15 in Perth on Saturday, continuing a perfect start to John Connolly's reign as coach following two emphatic victories over world champions England.
Ireland lost only narrowly, 34-23 and 27-17, in two tests in New Zealand this month and although the All Blacks were not at full strength O'Sullivan rates Australia as a stronger team.
"I actually back the Wallabies based on the last two games," O'Sullivan told reporters.
"They are a better team, not being smart, but they are a better football team. Probably the best football team we've played this year."
O'Driscoll agreed with his coach's assessment of Australia, who lost eight of their last nine tests in 2005.
"They are a very smart team, and smart teams, when it comes to the crunch, tend to come through," he said.
"I don't want to discredit the All Blacks but I just think in really tight games, when you've smart playmakers like (Chris) Latham and (George) Gregan and big powerful runners their whole game points towards them being a more powerful side."
"We are happy where we are at the moment, because we were all very nervous at the start," he said.
Australia winger Clyde Rathbone is doubtful for the start of the Tri-Nations with a hamstring injury but centre Mat Rogers was cleared of a serious ankle injury on Sunday.
The Wallabies begin their Tri-Nations campaign against the All Blacks in Christchurch on July 8.

Looking at all the scores I think we all did pretty well. Shocker on South Africans result, though it has been coming with the way that the South Africans have been playing - the french did not play all that well either which says alot.
I wasnt impressed with Wayne Julies, or Du Preez either if I am totally honest. I couldnt get any coverage of the great All Black match - who played well?

Thanks soperman, Looking forward to nexts week rugby already, and well hopefully we can our predictions better, and good job I am not a bookie I would be in alot of trouble otherwise Well The NZ game Wellington was good, but a close match with NZ fully in control and well the Argies did lay seige in the last ten minutes but otherwise it was NZ who were going to win this. Shame on the drizzle as would have liked to see Dan Carter back and performing a little better, but you cannot blame him entirely. Wiz
