http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z14brkHotT0Looks like he's got some range on his shot. Nice to finally see him play and can kindof see why they compare him to Dirk seeing how he's a 7 footer and hit so many threes in that game. He looks pretty fast for a bigman and that flip shot was pretty neat as well. Check it out!

here's another one. goes for about 3.5 mins and shows a nice little mix of plays. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LnSTJuCuI8
My initial impressions of the guy are pretty good. I mean, he looks like he has good range, and he has some nice footwork on the low post as well. I don't know if he will be a bit light going up against heavier centres in the NBA and may get pushed around a little at first but for whatever he's lacking in bulk he looks like he'll make up for it in quickness. Seems pretty fast for a 7 footer! What do you guys and girls think? Did the Raptors make the right move drafting him at #1?

Good find Thumb Few things though. He does really need to bulk up a bit but that will come with age and NBA coaching and facilities etc. Does he have a good NBA range 3 point shot??? Most of those were right on the line. Thats two in the NBA He for the most part has to get his feet set and squared and wont get that many open looks in the NBA even if he doesn't drag out his defender with better help out D comming. I like a big guy shooting but standing around waiting for it?? Low post moves look way under developed and can only rely on that fade away to work on guys a ft shorter like in the clip. Some nice off balance shots there but................ Didn't turn or go left once either. At worst he looks like Raef La Frentz Take it to the hole with TWO hands big fella! Not a number one in my books but teams are terified at missing out on the next Dirk. sig by pooc

Yeah, sure he is worth nr.1 pick!!! And as for me, I am looking forward to his struggle against Brad Miller and Sacramento... he will totally destroy him!!! Brad isn´t enough strong to overplayed him on the low post and as for the outside shot... bye bye Brad!!! But against the other teams, Chris Bosh as a defender of center??? I know, Rasho is here also, so probalby Andrea is the 6th player, but come on, he needs starting lineup!!! Dirk and Steve... forever! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEuU3Algf3g

Did I just read that right??? Surely Miller can hold his own in the post and crush him with one arm. I can't see this happening mate but I love the Euro passion I see a Euro guy that will be outplayed in the post and pick up cheap hand fouls Being a defensive liability in the NBA isn't condusive to lots of game time with most coaches. sig by pooc

From a lot of other stuff that I had read I thought maybe Toronto had made a mistake in choosing him #1, but after actually seeing some footage of the guy in action I can see why they made the decision to draft him. He is tall, fast, has good range on his shot, gets up and swats shots. When you put that alongside Bosh you have a legitimate tandem to build a team around over the next 5 or so years. I think Darko's rookie year maybe scared off a lot of people from European players, but really he didn't get the minutes required to show what he could do under Larry Brown and his moronic ideas of not playing rookies. I think after all is said and done this guy will be at the very least a decent NBA player based on what I'm seeing in these clips. As interesting as the Brad Miller matchup would be, I'd like to see him match up against Nowitzki and the Mavs and see what happens there. If he still gets the Dirk comparisons after playing on the same court against him then he will really be on the right track

Yeah, sure... he will make some stupid fouls with one hand or onley with bad move in the bad moment... But I hope he will get better and then become one of the European leaders in NBA... and as fort he matchup vs. Dirk... wow... it will be interesting, but I don´t want to believe it so much... as we can see in playofs, the better defender on Dirk is smaller one with better quickness... like Bruce Bowen or James Posey... but has Toronto someone like those guys??? Rather Chris Bosh on Dirk... Dirk and Steve... forever! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEuU3Algf3g

hey cmon Chad man, the dude's from Italy so I'm allowed to be a little biased But even still, I can see why they would take him #1 man, think about how good he could be at his best! A 7 footer with range and quickness!!! And did you see that flip shot he put in when he got fouled? That shows me that he's not a completely unco bastard as well, most big guys wouldn't have a prayer of putting in a shot like that.

"Wita"Rather Chris Bosh on Dirk... Yeah true, but on the other end there will be matchup problems for Dallas as well I think. Because with both Bosh and Bargnani out there they have two very tall, quick, lanky guys on offense. Dirk sometimes is a bit slow with his lateral movement and players get around him too easily. And with the range on his shot, Bargnani would have a field day against Dallas' slower bigmen like Dampier, because if he doesn't come out to guard him he will get the open look, and if he does go play perimeter defence Bargnani will drive right by him to the hoop. Thats why I think it's a good move to draft the guy. He has good quickness matched up with his height and range on his shot. It will present a lot of problems for defensive matchups, because you need to play a big guy on someone like that, and there aren't too many centres that would be able to defend that style of play.

He looks pretty athletic, has a decent looking stroke, got up there for that block, etc. but he's definitely not a #1 pick. Not many players in this year's draft could really be considered a #1 pick though. Bargnani definitely will fit in well with Toronto, once he puts on a bit more muscle. Like someone said previously, he won't get those open looks like the ones from the vid, but being a 7 footer means you don't need too much room to let one go.

Even if those guys in Italy are smaller than him, getting up that high he will still throw back NBA player's shots the same way I think. You can tell from his jump that he can really get up high in those vids. The dunk where he goes baseline and takes it up with one hand looks sick.
